Sometimes it takes me awhile to get around to processing my favourite photos. I’m not sure why I do that – I tuck them away like a wildcard.
That’s what happened with these photos I made on the second day I visited Whitewater Draw in Arizona. If you missed part 1 of this series, be sure to check it out!
This was my favourite new “find” from last year’s snowbird trip. I thought I had it good the first day, but the next morning I woke up to fog. Ooooooo fog!!!!
It’s like magic what fog can do for a landscape and I was anxious to find out what it might do for wildlife. I couldn’t wait to get out there in the hopes of photographing the sandhill cranes just as the fog lifted.
I got my wish.

The photo below is my favourite of all the photos I made of the cranes. I just love the minimalist feel to the shot and how the tips of their wings are just barely above the water as the fog lifts. I think this one is going to make my “top 10 list” for this year 🙂

This one I’m not too sure about! Is there too much fog? I do like the way there is just a hint of the two birds flying one above the other.

When the fog eventually lifted, still in the early morning hours, I headed back to the RV with a smile on my face knowing I had already created my art for the day.

If there is visual magic on the planet it is in water, surely.
Beautiful shots, hubby and I are heading there soon. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Debbie, you’re going to love it there!
The positioning of the two cranes in the last image, especially the complementary wing positions, is phenomenal! The fog gives it a nice touch too. Super shot!
