Sunset and Prickly Pears Over the Rio Grande

From the Rio Grande Village Campground at Big Bend National Park, Texas, you can take a short hike up to the Rio Grande Overlook and find this stunning view!

I like hiking, but it’s nice to find a sunset spot where you don’t have to hike down too far in the dark – or worse leave your spot too soon because you don’t want to get jabbed by nasty cacti like these prickly pears in the dark!

I love how the needles glow red in the backlight. One time I had a guy tell me there was too much chromatic aberration in my photo! Haha. No, dude, the needles are red.

I made the sunset image with my 10-18mm wide angle lens for my Sony NEX6. I love that lens! It was a bit pricey, but so nice and light. The second image was made with the 18-55mm lens and the third with the 55-210mm telephoto lens.

I love being able to take my camera and three lenses on a hike for less weight than my DSLR and one lens!

Please share!

Yes, thanks for sharing your photos from around the US. Had a chance to travel with my eldery parents to different locations over the past 4 years in their RV. Used my vacation from work when that was done. Unfortunately, my mother is now diseased after a long illness.
