You Guessed It – More Driftwood

Jekyll Island, Georgia

Unless today is your first visit here, you probably know where this is, dontcha?

I made this image on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, Georgia. It was twilight after sunset and though the sky still had quite a bit of colour the foreground was fairly dark. I made three exposures: one to expose for the sky, one for the mid-tones and one for the dark foreground, and then I combined the exposures in post-processing using Photomatix. After that I brought the image in to my new software Nik Color Efex Pro to adjust the colours. I got a great deal on the software at one of those Cyber-Monday sales last month and I am really starting to like using it.

Next week I will have a few more images from Georgia including the other barrier island, St. Simons, before I move on to Florida. Have a great weekend!

Please share!

  1. I know that feeling about the bug bites. They are full of gants and other things. Glad you enjoy our state of GA and get to know our bugs. lol. Next time you come and always remember to get the bug spray. 🙂 Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May God bless you richly. 🙂

    1. Thank you Diane, yes, more bug spray!! I thought there would be lots of bugs in Florida too but I haven’t experienced the same thing here. I did love Georgia though and will definitely return.

  2. Hi Anne,
I know Jekyll Island and St. Simmons island are a beautiful place to take photos but I only go there for the beach and fishing out the ocean with a friend of mine. The one I hate the most is the bridge when I’m driving over between Jekyll island and St Simmons island. Just dont like the high height. Thank you for sharing the pic. 🙂

    1. Hi Diane, I really liked the beach at St. Simons as far as just hanging out and enjoying the white sand. I liked the beach on Jekyll more for photography, but not for the no-see-ems, I was covered in bites after that sunrise photo walk! I’m getting better at using the bug spray now. Thanks for your comments.

    1. Hi Alexander, thank you very much for your comments and I am so glad you are enjoying the ebook. I am just working on getting my images together for Rosana for her online magazine! It’s pretty exciting, thank you again for introducing us.

  3. I love all the driftwood pics, Anne, they’re great. I think my favorites are the ones where you silhouetted the driftwood, because the background colours in them are really accentuated. But this one is lovely too, in a more subtle way. Great stuff! Also, just finished reading your e-book – well done and very useful. Thanks!

    1. Hi Laurie, I’m so glad that you read and enjoyed my eBook! It’s my first one so if you have any feedback on it I am open to hearing it. I hope to write some more very soon. I might take a short break from the blog over Christmas and work on another eBook then. Thanks again for your comments.
