Green Cove Waves, Cape Breton

I just cannot get enough of the waves and rocky shores in Atlantic Canada. At Green Cove in Cape Breton, I stood on top of one of the highland cliffs and looked down to the boulders below.

I made these images using my polarizing filter and exposing for half a second to capture the movement of the ocean. The only difference between them is the size of the wave.

  1. Morris, wow, you don’t know how happy it makes me that my image brings out those emotions. I too miss the ocean terribly when I am inland for any period of time. It always feels like coming home, even when I am at an ocean on the other side of the country. (I am from the Pacific.) I love the taste of the salt on my lips from the sea spray. Thank you so much for your visit and your wonderful words.

  2. I miss the sound and smell of the ocean. I miss the taste of it when I went swimming as a child. I miss the feel of the seaweed on my toes.
The textures of the drift wood and the colour of the rocks. The shapes of the rocks and the smoothness of them. I miss home.
    Beautiful work Anne.

    1. Hi Adam, great to see you here, thanks for the visit. I probably have 50-70 images of these rocks, I just couldn’t stop. It was so much fun, I love doing the long exposures on the water.

    1. Thanks Marc. I loved the red rocks in both PEI and Cape Breton, they make for different seascapes than I have seen before.

    1. Hi Chris, I’m glad because I’m sure I will have many more “on the rocks” type images coming up! Thanks for the comment.

    1. Hi Charlie, yes the prairies and the mountains are both beautiful, but nothing compares to the ocean in my mind. I couldn’t live without it.
