The southern shoreline of Lake Superior in Michigan has a protected area known as the “Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore”. The name comes from the stains that decorate the rocks caused by minerals seeping through the sandstone.
The force of water that created largest freshwater lakes in the world, the great lakes, also sculpted the shoreline. Evidence of this power can be seen in this photo of the aptly named “Battleship Rocks”.
In order to see the rock formations and colours, you need to get out on a boat. Due to the height of the cliffs, very little can be seen from shore. Since we didn’t have our own boat, we decided to take a sunset cruise. Like taking photos from a moving car, making images from a moving boat requires a high shutter speed.
I made this image by increasing my ISO setting to 1000 so I could maintain a shutter speed of 1/640s and used noise reduction in post-processing.

You must convince her! I finally decided to just do it when a friend of mine died. I realized how sad it would be to not get to do the things I really wanted to do. Money isn’t everything. And I’m quite happy being a poor nomad, I like the lifestyle so much more!! Living in a city, you spend so much of your time just paying for your accommodations so you can live in a city.
