Sonoran Desert: Ajo’s Background in Motion and Time
The Sonoran Desert in Southern Arizona has a special place in my heart. During our snowbird winters, my husband and I love to camp in the wilderness near Ajo on the Ajo Scenic Drive. In my latest video, “Sonoran Desert: Ajo’s Backcountry in Time and Motion,” I want to take you on a visual journey of this captivating landscape.
Through drone footage, timelapse and still photography, and stacked star trail photography, I’ve captured the raw beauty of the Sonoran Desert. From the lush cactus to the stunning star-filled nights, and even a glimpse into a historic mine, you’ll get a feel for what makes this place so special.
One of the highlights of this area is the opportunity to explore the historic New Cornelia Mine, an inactive open-pit copper mine which operated from 1919 to 1985. The variety of ore in this area make for a very colourful mine!
As you watch, you’ll experience the vastness of the desert, the awe-inspiring sunsets that light up the sky, and the peaceful moments that make you feel like you’re the only person on earth.
Enjoy this glimpse into our desert boondocking adventures.

Beautiful. It’s a lovely area and thanks for bringing it into my home. I especially enjoyed the time lapse night sky and sunset shots.
I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it Kathy, thanks for taking the time to comment!
I recall a while you had to curtail some your adventures due a health issue… I have always enjoyed your excellent photography portfolios and your ebooks…. I hope you are back and will continue to be a superb photographer…
PS: this video and narrative is superb

Hi John, thank you so much, I’m very glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, my health is improving! I am not 100% yet, but I am improving a little every day and finally able to do fun things again. Thanks for your encouragement, I appreciate it.
Nice job Anne, I love Ajo area, some of my favorite boondocking. Nice drone footage and was that 2nd song Santana??
Thank you Lisa! Glad you enjoyed the video. I thought that song sounded like Santana too, but no, I think I would get a copyright violation if it was.
