Just Three of the Many Jumbo Rocks

I think I could spend days photographing in this location. The only problem with it is that the campground bearing it’s name is extremely popular so there are always lots of people at Jumbo Rocks in Joshua Tree National Park.

Our RV is too big to fit in that campground, and I don’t think I would like being near so many people anyway, so we always stay at Belle Campground just a short drive away.

I made this photo just before the amazing sunset I shared with you earlier this week. You can see how the clouds are starting to break up and the colour is coming in. Always a good sign of a stellar sunset!

Please share!

  1. Love your blog and photos. My husband and I escaped reality and cruised in our motor-yacht for 4 years cruising 16,000 miles and visiting 13 countries – with 2 dogs, both now in doggy heaven. Yes it was wonderful! We have now thrown out the anchor in beautiful northern Idaho. Problem is, we still have itchy feet, so will purchase a motor-coach to see more of this great land. I love to photograph as well, problem is I never have time to do things like cook and clean because I’m always out wandering around. How do you do it all and stay sane? Perhaps I should just stay insane!! Best to you.

    1. Hi Leslie, yes I recommend just staying insane! 🙂 It’s hard to do everything, especially when I have so much to do on the computer with maintaining the blog and the community, writing eBooks, social media etc, and still have time to actually photograph and plan the next adventure. I still don’t have the solution for maintaining a good balance. You can only try! Thanks for your visit and comments.

  2. Love the shot – especially the way of including the plant on the right seems to just complete the image.
But I am wondering how you deal with people in such a popular location.

    1. Hi hiss and stare until they get the message!! haha. I’m just kidding. I throw rocks. Actually I try to go during the week and be as patient as possible. Thanks for your visit and comments Bob.

    1. Hi Vinod, yes I love using my ND filters. The thing to watch out for is the colour cast that you’ll see on some of the cheaper brands. I use Singh-Ray filters and I have a 2 stop hard grad, 2 stop reverse grad, 3 step soft grad, and a 4 stop solid. They’re pricey but I like them.
