The Smaller Beauty in the Valley of Fire, Nevada

This week I want to take you back to one of my favourite places from our last snowbird season in the American Southwest: The Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.

I truly had no idea that Nevada was so incredibly beautiful until I was invited there by a reader of this very blog who owns a small RV park near the Valley of Fire.

If ever I’ve been to a place that made me think I could be happy photographing in one location forever, it is here. In fact, Ray and I are planning on going back for a month this fall.

Today’s photos show some of the smaller details: the lines, textures, and colours in the rock. The grand vistas were spectacular, but it is these small details, the different colours and textures that change with every footstep, that have me mesmerized in this place.

If you missed my posts about this area earlier this year, you can catch up and see some of the larger vistas here.

Please share!

    1. Hey GypsyNesters! Great to see you again. Yes I think the best places are indeed the ones you get lost in, especially when you get lost because you’re admiring the beauty 🙂 Thanks for your visit and comments.

  1. These are my kind of image and would make great textures for overlays. But I like them as is, the details are magnificent.

  2. Yes, Valley of Fire is quite impressive and you captured it well!
I downloaded your latest book from Amazon….thanks so much. I left a comment there as Colorful Girl:) A very informative and well written book.

      1. Hi Anne,
Many thanks for each of the photographs you made in such lovely places!
I have never in my life seen such beauty in rocks.

        1. Thank you very much for the kind comment Vasiliy. There are amazing rock formations all over the American southwest, but this place in particular has the most vivid colours in the rock. I really appreciate your visit and comments.
