Florida Campground Cottages

The campground we stayed at in the Florida Keys was a key unto itself. It was called Sunshine Key and the whole key was the campground. It had a cute little marina and was right next to Bahia Honda Key.

If you don’t bring your own RV, they have some cottages you can rent.

Campground Cottages, Florida Keys
Cottages in Florida processed in HDR plus Topaz Adjust.

It was rather expensive ($400 per week for a campsite with full hook-ups) but at Christmastime in the Keys it was to be expected. Ray and I gave each other this week as our Christmas gift to each other.

I made this high dynamic range image by combining 3 exposures in Photomatix and further processed it using Topaz Adjust.

  1. Looks like a lovely place to get in official “me” time! I’m going to second what Mim said above about the HDR….I see tons of it so overblown in so many attempts at it, but you use it with finesse.

    1. Hi Russ, you are so right. Often I recharge my batteries by going out on a photo walk, I find it so relaxing and it seems to give my mind a rest. But then again, sometimes I get stale and I need to do other things to become creative again. It’s all a process I guess. Thank you very much for your comments.

    1. Hi Chris, I like the “old Florida” look too. I found another place that was very old Florida, Cedar Key, it was awesome. I haven’t shared my photos from there yet, they’ll be coming up soon. Thanks for your comments.

  2. I’m impressed with how subtly you use HDR, Anne. Many overdo it. You get it just right. And Topaz plug-ins are great, aren’t they. I love the colors and clarity of this shot. The place looks tropical, like it could be found on a small island in the Caribbean.

    1. Hi Mim, thank you very much for your compliment on my HDR techniques. Sometimes I like the less subtle look too, but I usually go for the more natural look but with the details that the HDR brings out. It was tropical down there!
